Huff Motorsports MPH for Children’s
Seattle WA, June 1st
2003
Sunday was a fun day for Steve Huff
and the Huff Motorsports Top Fuel Harley race team and they weren’t even at a
race track. The team spent Sunday in Tacoma WA at Destination Harley. It was the
Destination Harley Blues Festival featuring a number of bands, great food, a
beer garden, silent auction and the staff from Children’s Hospital signing up
riders for The Children’s Ride that will be held on June 29th. The
event was put on to raise money for Children’s Hospital in Seattle and all of
the days proceeds went to Children’s.
The Huff Motorsports team came up
with an idea and brought out the race team and bike to get it started. The
idea…. MPH for Children’s. The AHDRA will be hosting the Kresto Pacific
Nationals at Pacific Raceways in Kent WA on the weekend of June
28th-29th and the Children’s Ride destination is the
racetrack for a day of AHDRA racing action on Sunday, the 29th. The
Huff Motorsports team is going to make qualifying that weekend a bit more
interesting. On the Saturday the 28th the team will get 3 qualifying
passes and they will use their best MPH to collect on pledges being made by the
community. The Huff Motorsports team is taking an idea similar to the
“walk-a-thon” pledge idea but doing it with MPH. If a person or company wants to
pledge $1.00 per MPH they will simply pay based on Steve’s best pass on
Saturday, if he goes 208 MPH they will pay $208.00. There is no minimum or
maximum to pledge but remember Steve’s average for 2003 has been over 201 MPH
with the best being 206.
“I think this will be a lot
of fun”, said Huff, “It will give a lot of people who don’t ride a chance to
get behind this event and raise money for a great cause.” If you or anyone you
know is interested in making a pledge just go to www.huffmotorsports.com for contact
instructions or simply e-mail huffmotorsports@attbi.com with your
name, telephone number and pledge amount. The results will be posted on the
website and an e-mail reminder will be sent to you after the race. Huff added,
“I’m really fortunate to be doing what I do and sometimes we take things like
that for granted. Giving back to the community like this and seeing the kids get
something out of it is one of the most rewarding things a person can do not to
mention it is a great incentive for our team to try and improve on our 206 MPH
personal best and raise a lot of money for
Children’s.”
The Huff Motorsports team is heading out to
Denver for the
AHDRA Thunder Mountain Nitro Nationals next week then
it’s off to Dallas for the AHDRA American Iron Horse
Nationals before returning to Seattle. “It’s a busy month and still
without any primary sponsor I really have to thank all of our associate sponsors
for helping us stay on the track and get involved with these children’s
charities”, added Huff.
